Woodford double oaked here. A bit of quiet time with the family in bed. I’m off to Montreal for work on Sunday, so I want to relax while I can.

Nothing. Gotta be back at work at 0500 for the next two days, which means I really should be asleep now, but here I am...

Waaaaaaay too much Johnnie Walker Black.

Ugh. The earlier I need to get up, the harder it is to fall asleep...

That sounds like potential trouble in the morning...

Morning? What about now where I can’t find my pants?

And that’s a problem how again?

Water, with crushed ice.

The first day of the work week is the toughest. And then yesterday I was driving all over creation doing Craigslist purchases, so I got very little sleep. I was a zombie today but thankfully it was relatively slow for a Friday and we had a full complement of dispatchers on duty for a change. Weekends are slower but are therefore staffed lighter, and sadly that’s usually when drivers and passengers do the dumbest things that just leave you shaking your head in amazement.

A few Jai Alai IPA cans, then once the kids were in bed, wife convinced me her boxed pinot grigio was decent.
It was. Is. Whatever.
I miss the days when boxed wine was an automatic “pass.” Kept me out of trouble...

Not a problem, exactly...

Some Pinot Grigio that was made during the Bush administration. Super smooth.

My wife’s tastes are a bit different from mine, so we each have our own stash, basically.
Which is good, because there would be hell to pay if I finished her Riesling.

Wait Pinot Grigio can age?
Enjoy!

Now that is more like it

Yep, I know if I grab something hoppy and caloric, she can grab something sweet and white and we’re all good...for a while. Then the crossover begins.

Better get some rest! What do you do?

Paratransit dispatcher for a public transportation agency. I’m on the phone and radios making things happen when it all goes pear-shaped. It’s a stressful job but I like it; good co-workers and good management go a long way towards making it tolerable.
The customers can be challenging, but you just have to step back and remain calm and not take any of it personally. As we say when they do something odd or crazy, “there are very good reasons why they’re using our service”. We’re just trying to help the mentally and physically disabled lead as normal a life as possible which is rewarding on a spiritual level, and it makes me feel like I’m doing a little good in this world.

A lot of Chianti. A lot more to come tomorrow. At a memorial and wake for an important family member for the weekend.

Also Woodford, but the regular Reserve. It’s my go-to “can’t be assed deciding” drink.
Well earned today, after buying a new/old junk hauler (2000 Mitsubishi Montero) and fixing the clothes dryer by the trusty “take it apart, do nothing to it, put it back together” method. It amazes me how often that works.

It is weird that just taking something apart and putting it back together can fix it. I always assumed that it was a loose connection or bad contact that was the issue when that happens to me.
Still feels good to “fix” it.
